In my world its always margarita season. Equal parts sour, sweet and salty the traditional margarita is a classic and a perfect canvas for endless variations. One of my favorite ways to upgrade a margarita is by adding a French flair to this Mexican classic with a bit of Chambord. A little refined and a lot relaxed this Chambord raspberry margarita is the perfect cocktail for patio season.

What is Chambord?
Chambord is a sweet black raspberry liqueur from the Loire Valley in France. Chambord comes in a beautiful bejeweled globe bottle and aside from raspberry you can taste notes of vanilla, honey and citrus. With a striking purple color Chambord is commonly used with champagne to make Kir Royale but can be used to create a variety of other cocktails.
How to Make a Chambord Raspberry Margarita
This cocktail follows a pretty standard margarita formula. The base of this drink of course is tequila, I would use a good blanco or silver tequila as the nuances of an aged anejo may get lost with the Chambord. Rim a glass with margarita salt, sugar or crushed freeze dried raspberries (as I did). Add tequila, Chambord, Cointreau and lime juice to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake (for at least 30 seconds or until well chilled) and pour into your prepared glass. Garnish with lime, raspberries, or both and enjoy!

Especially loving the dried raspberry rim on the glass. I’m not a fan of salt rims, so this is a really great idea. Thanks!
