Ingredients

Baked Brie with Cranberries and Pecans ingredients
  • Wheel of brie cheese
  • Cranberries, fresh or frozen
  • Maple syrup
  • Chopped pecans

Cooking Tips and Variations

Fresh or frozen cranberries: Both work well. No need to thaw frozen cranberries first.

Watch the brie: Bake just until warm and gooey. Overbaking can cause the cheese to spread too much.

Switch up the nuts: Try walnuts, almonds or pistachios in place of pecans.

Add a flavor boost: Orange zest, a pinch of cinnamon or ginger, or fresh herbs like rosemary pairs beautifully with the cranberry compote

Make it ahead: Prepare the cranberry topping a day or two in advance, then reheat and spoon it over freshly baked brie before serving.

How to Make Baked Brie with Cranberries and Pecans

  • Preheat the oven. Heat your oven to 350°F. Place the brie wheel in a mini oven-safe skillet, small baking dish, or on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the brie. Bake for about 10 minutes, until the cheese is softened and warm.
  • Prepare the cranberry topping. While the brie bakes, combine the cranberries, maple syrup, and chopped pecans in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Cook until jammy. Simmer for 6 to 8 minutes, making sure to stir occasionally, until the cranberries pop and the mixture thickens.
  • Top and serve. Remove the brie from the oven and spoon the warm cranberry mixture over the cheese. Serve immediately with crackers, crusty bread, crostini, or apple slices.

Storage and Reheating

Refrigerator: Baked brie is best served fresh while the cheese is warm. If you have leftovers, transfer them to an airtight container and refrigerate within two hours. Enjoy within 3 days.

Reheating: Place leftover brie in a small oven-safe dish and warm in a 300°F oven until softened and heated through. The brie may not have quite the same texture after being chilled and reheated.
