This easy buffalo chicken slider recipe is one of my favorite appetizers for parties and game day,and it comes together quick enough for a family-friendly weeknight dinner! I’m taking everyone’s favorite buffalo chicken dip and turned them into a delicious handheld snack. Delicious as is, I often serve them alongside baby carrots, celery sticks and extra ranch dressing (blue cheese dressing would also be tasty) for dipping. For other great slider recipes take a look at my Philly Cheesesteak Sliders and my Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders.

I’m a huge fan of buffalo wing sauce and love using it in recipes. If you love traditional buffalo chicken wings my Hot Honey Chicken Wings and Smoked Chicken Wings deliver that classic wing flavor we all love. For something a little different my Buffalo Chicken Meatballs make a delicious game day party appetizer.

Buffalo Chicken Sliders

Ingredients

  • Shredded Chicken – you can use rotisserie chicken for ease. You can also poach or cook chicken breast in the Instant Pot
  • Buffalo style hot sauce – I like this classic hot sauce but you can use your favorite brand
  • Ranch dressing
  • Cream cheese
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Green onions
  • Hawaiian rolls
  • Butter
  • Ranch seasoning (optional)

Cooking Tips

  • I usually usually cook or poach chicken thighs (4 chicken thighs will give you about 3 cups of shredded chicken), but you can certainly use a rotisserie chicken  and shred it yourself or get pre-shredded cooked chicken from the store
  • If the top of the rolls are browning too quickly in the oven you can cover them with aluminum foil for the remainder of the baking time
  • Feel free to use your favorite store-bought ranch or homemade ranch dressing if you’ve got a recipe you love
  • Both the ranch and cream cheese tame the heat of the buffalo hot sauce, if you like things extra spicy seek out an extra hot bufalo sauce
  • Completely optional, but if you have a packet of ranch seasoning srinkling it on top of the rolls along with melted butter for an extra boost of flavor

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Sliders

These sliders take all the flavors of buffalo chicken dip and turns it into a sandwich, and the best part is they are very simple to make. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Start by stirring together shredded cooked chicken, buffalo wing sauce, ranch dressing, cream cheese, freshly grated cheddar cheese and green onions until fully combined.

Buffalo Chicken Sliders - preparing sliders

Cut a package of Hawaiian sweet rolls through the middle to create two large slabs. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 9×13 baking dish and spread the buffalo mixture over this. Place the remaining top half of the rolls on top of this. Sprinkle ranch seasoning (if using) on top of the rolls and brush  melted butter over the top of the rolls. Bake the sliders for 20 minutes at 350 degrees and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Storage

Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

It is way to easy to eat more than a couple of these and I love how pillowy soft the Hawaiian rolls are.

I never knew the history behind buffalo chicken wings, and I find it super interesting to learn! What a great twist putting these in slide form, The bread just counteracts nicely with the filling

Has anyone tried this with blue cheese instead of the ranch dressing?

Here’s a tip to keep the tops from burning:
Speak a piece of foil with Pam and cover with the foil. (Sprayed side against the buns to keep them from sticking to the foil.)
Cook for 10 minutes, remove the foil and cook the remaining 10 min.
I use this trick on all the sliders I make and it keeps the tops from getting too hard or burned.
