What is Agua Fresca?
Popular throughout Mexico, agua fresca is a refreshing drink make from blended fresh fruit, water, lime juice and a little sugar. I first had my first taste of traditional agua fresca when exploring the market in Tepotzlan, Mexico while attending a cooking class at La Villa Bonita. For the best flavor choose sweet, ripe fruit for your agua fresca. Agua fresca is best served on the day it’s made, but will last for 3-4 days in the refrigerator though the fruit puree may settle and may need to be stirred before serving.

How to Make Pineapple Agua Fresca
This is one of those recipes that’s so easy I hesitate to call it a recipe. Add the fresh pineapple to a high speed blender (I love this blender) and blend until smooth. Using a fine mesh strainer strain out the pulp.
Transfer the the pineapple juice to a larger pitcher or carafe. Add water, lime juice and sugar and stir to combine. Serve chilled or over ice. This agua fresca is delicious as is or you can make it a bit boozy with a bit of tequila, mezcal, rum or vodka.
