How to Make Lavender Lemonade

For this lemonade start by making the lavender simple syrup. In a small saucepan combine sugar, water and lavender and bring to a simmer making sure the sugar fully dissolves, stirring occasionally. Remove the pan from the heat and cover, allowing the simple syrup to steep for 20-30 minutes. Strain out the lavender buds with a fine mesh strainer and transfer the lavender syrup to a clean glass jar (I absolutely love these adorable tulip jars!). You can store this simple syrup int the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to a month.
For the lemonade you’ll need freshly squeezed lemon juice (a citrus juicer like this makes quick work of juicing lemons). Pour the lemon juice to a large pitcher along with 1 cup of the lavender simple syrup and 5 cups water, stir until fully mixed. Serve chilled or over ice and garnish with lemon slices or fresh lavender flowers.
Variations
- If you would like a boozy lavender lemonade cocktail stir in 1 cup of vodka or gin
- For a sparkling lavender lemonade substitute sparkling water for the water
