Flavor is woven into the soul of Louisiana and food here is always a party. Crab is a Gulf Coast favorite, and gets even better as part of a creamy, spicy dip. Bold and welcoming, homey and indulgent my recipe for Hot Cajun Crab Dip is sure to let the good times roll.

Hot Cajun Crab Dip

Crab dip is a mix of crab and cream cheese that originated in Maryland but gets even better with a cajun kick. While you can can use backfin or claw meat for this dip I like to jumbo lump crab dip to make it extra luxurious. Cajun seasoning is a blend of paprika, cayenne, garlic powder and other spices that really jazzes up this creamy crab dip.

Ingredients for Cajun Crab Dip

  • cream cheese
  • mayonnaise
  • Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • lump crab meat
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • green onion
  • bell pepper
  • worcestershire sauce
  • hot sauce
  • cajun seasoning

What to Serve with Cajun Crab Dip

Creamy, spicy and loaded with crab this dip is highly versatile. Use it as a spread for crackers or sliced baguette or use it to dip in crunchy celery or carrots. In the unlikely case you have leftover crab dip it is especially delicious as part of an omelets.

How to Make Cajun Crab Dip

Hot Cajun Crab Dip - ingredients

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl mix together cream cheese, mayonnaise, yogurt or sour cream, crab, cheddar cheese, green onion, bell pepper, worcestershire, hot sauce and cajun seasoning until fully combined. Transfer to a small cast iron skillet or baking dish. Bake for 25 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.

  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 6.5 in cast iron skillet or small baking dish

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 8 oz lump crab meat
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 2 tsp cajun seasoning

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
