Puff pastry is one of my favorite ingredients for quick and easy appetizers. These tarts take inspiration from one of my favorite classic bagels with a sprinkle of everything seasoning, a schmear of cream cheese and topped with decadent smoked salmon. My Everything Bagel Smoked Salmon Puff Pastry Tarts are easy to make and sure to be a hit at your next party.

Puff pastry is a laminated pastry that is made with layers of butter and dough, which creates a pastry that is light and flaky. Excellent puff pastry is available at most supermarkets and is a great shortcut for creating desserts and appetizers( take a look at my Asparagus Ricotta Puff Pastry Tart and Zucchini Puff Pastry Tart) including these everything bagel tarts. Cream cheese mixed with briny capers and ribbons of smoked salmon make these tarts reminiscent of your favorite New York bagel shop.

How to Make Everything Bagel Smoked Salmon Puff Pastry Tarts

Preheat the oven to 400โ„‰ or to the temperature specified on the package of puff pastry. On a lightly floured surface roll out the puff pastry to a 10×14 in rectangle. Using a pizza wheel or sharp knife cut the puff pastry into 2.5×2.5 inch squares (about 20) and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cut a 1 inch round circle in the center of each puff pastry without cutting all the way through the bottom to create a border.

Beat together the large egg and water to create an egg wash and brush this over the top of each tart. Sprinkle each tart with everything bagel seasoning. Transfer to the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes. In a bowl stir together cream cheese, capers and lemon juice until combined. Press down the center of each tart and fill with the cream cheese mixture. Top each tart with a slice of smoked salmon and garnish with fresh dill. Serve as desired.
