Hot honey and chicken are a natural match (like my hot honey chicken wings). These chicken tenders are coated with panko, spritzed with a bit of cooking spray (I love this avocado oil cooking spray) and baked until golden and crispy. A final drizzle of hot honey ( it’s simple enough to make homemade as I have or you can use storebought hot honey) makes these tenders irresistable.

Ingredients for Hot Honey Chicken Tenders

  • buttermilk
  • hot sauce (optional)
  • chicken tenderloins
  • all purpose flour
  • Kosher salt
  • garlic powder
  • smoked paprika
  • ground black pepper
  • eggs
  • panko bread crumbs
  • cooking spray
  • honey
  • red pepper flakes
  • apple cider vinegar

How to Make Hot Honey Chicken Tenders

Add buttermilk and hot sauce (if using) in a shallow dish. Trim the tendons and fat from the tenderloins and place them in the buttermilk and marinate for at least 20 minutes or up to overnight. Preheat to oven to 425 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Line up 3 shallow bowls or dishes. In the first bowl combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Add two beaten eggs to the second dish and then the panko breadcrumbs to the third dish.Working one at a time coat the chicken tenders in the flour mixture and then dip in the eggs. Finally cover the tender with the panko bread crumbs and place on the baking sheet. Repeat the process with the remaining tenders and spray them with cooking spray. Bake to tenders for 20 minutes or until golden brown and the tenders reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

While the chicken tenders bake prepare the hot honey. Add honey and red pepper flakes to a saucepan. Bring this to a simmer over medium heat, remove from heat and stir in apple cider vinegar. Drizzle the hot honey over the chicken tenders and serve as desired.
