Scones are a type of quick bread originally from the UK. Using baking powder as a leavener (as opposed to yeast) to obtain rise the method for making scones is pretty similar to southern biscuits. Whether I’m making them for weekend breakfast or to go with a spot of afternoon tea scones are one of my favorite things to bake (take a look at my apple scones with maple cinnamon glaze and savory ham and cheese scones).

Turn the dough out onto a silicon baking mat or parchment paper and using floured hands (the dough will be sticky) shape the dough into an 8 inch circle. Step 3 instructs to “Separate the wedges slightly and brush the tops of the scones with cream.” but cream is not on the ingredient list. What kind/fat percentage of cream?

Hi Noelle, I recently changed my scones to be brushed with an egg wash instead of cream. I’ve updated the cranberry scone recipe 🙂

Hi! I’m struggling to find fresh cranberries, am I able to make this with frozen whole cranberries as an alternative?

While I haven’t personally made it with frozen cranberries I think that would work. Let me know how they turn out!

Great recipe! I used wax paper and dried cranberry and it just took about 15mins to cook. It was very easy to make and came out fluffy and moist.
