Ingredients
  

For the meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley

For the tomato sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp fresh oregano or 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a large bowl combine ground beef, onion, garlic, ricotta, parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg and parsley. Using your hands gently mix together until fully combined. Form 12-16 meatballs and set aside.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic to the pan and sauté for 4-5 minutes. Add in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt and pepper and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Place the meatballs in the skillet nestled in the sauce. Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook for 20 minutes. Serve as desired.
