Equipment

  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 Fine Mesh Strainer
  • 1 glass container

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 cups whole milk, half and half or heavy cream or your favorite non dairy milk
  • 2 vanilla beans

Instructions

  • Add the water and sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring to ensure the sugar has fully dissolved. Reduce the heat to low.
  • Slice the vanilla beans in half lengthwise and scrape out the vanilla seeds. Add both the vanilla pods and beans to the simple syrup along with your choice of milk. Allow the vanilla to steep over low heat for 20-30 minutes.
  • Remove the vanilla beans and strain the creamer using a fine mesh strainer. Transfer to a glass jar or pitcher. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks and serve as desired.

Notes

For the vanilla beans you can substitute 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste.
